The founders of a new cafe at the Lee Harrison Shopping Center are hoping to bring some Vietnamese flair to Yorktown later this year.
Tina Dam and David Le are preparing to open Cup of Bliss “in the summer to early fall” at 2439 N. Harrison Street, Dam told ARLnow. They plan to serve coffee, baked goods and Vietnamese specialities from a retail bay that had been vacant for more than three years.
The menu will offer Vietnamese coffee made with sweetened condensed milk in two variations — the stronger cà phê sữa and lower-intensity bạc xỉu — as well as egg coffee, coconut Vietnamese coffee and milk tea.
This is in addition to coffee and espresso drinks, matcha, breakfast sandwiches and grab-and-go items.
“On the dessert side, we plan to offer items like pandan cookies, tiramisu, and fresh bakery options,” Dam said.
The cafe founders got the idea for Cup of Bliss while working at Five Guys. Le worked as a district manager and Dam as a corporate trainer at the burger-and-fries chain.
“We both shared a strong passion for food and beverage, and over time, that passion, especially for coffee and hospitality, grew into the vision for Cup of Bliss,” Dam said. “We’re very excited to now be bringing that idea to life.”
Le said they look forward to bringing a menu “that feels both familiar and unique” to Arlington. The cafe will be opening up across the street from Chill Zone Cafe, another cafe with Vietnamese-inspired offerings.
Cup of Bliss will replace the vacancy left by an urgent care facility in 2022. Previous plans for a Crumbl Cookies in the space fell through in 2024.
