A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for Arlington.
The watch is in effect from now until 8 p.m., with forecasters warning of the possibility of severe storms packing quarter-sized hail and 70 mph wind gusts.
Arlington and the immediate D.C. area are near the southern edge of the watch area, which includes parts of Pennsylvania, much of Maryland, and points west in Northern Virginia.
The storms are expected to bring a big change in the weather after three days of sweltering heat. Expect a soggy and cool Memorial Day weekend, with high temperatures in the 50s and 60s Friday through Sunday, before a warmup on Monday.
