New event venue opens at former rooftop restaurant space in Courthouse

A private event venue with rooftop views is preparing to open at a longtime restaurant and bar space in Courthouse.

The Willow opened earlier this month at 2424 Wilson Blvd, in the former home of Rooftop Recess and, before that, Arlington Rooftop Bar & Grill. The space is pivoting to host all kinds of private events — from corporate events and weddings to wine and food tastings.

“We’re trying to make a space where people can reconnect or throw events for their friends, where you can play your own music, have your own atmosphere, have your own open bar,” owner Raghav Dumera, who is also the building’s property owner, told ARLnow.

The space features three event spaces.

“The Main Floor” is its largest, holding up to 199 people when standing and 125 when sitting. “The Loft,” which is located one floor up, holds 56 standing and 40 sitting, while “The Roof Terrace” can fit up to 120 standing and 60 sitting. All three floors have bars, tables and space for mingling.

“We believe that the right setting shapes the memory,” the venue’s website says. “Every detail at The Willow — from the warmth of the Main Floor to the open sky of the Roof Terrace — is an act of care for you and for those you celebrate with.”

Baseline pricing for an event starts at $5,200, but Dumera says it will vary depending on what customers do with the space and choices they make regarding food, beverages and staff.

Available services include in-house food and beverage — with options including custom seasonal menus, late-night snack packages and an open buffet — as well as craft cocktails and a full bar program, including a signature cocktail menu and a selection of wine and craft beers. The venue recently received a license to serve beer, wine and liquor.

“Delight your guests with beautifully presented passed bites, flavorful buffet selections, and seamless service designed for unforgettable celebrations,” the website says.

Upcoming events at The Willow include a wine tasting that Dumera plans to host sometime next month, along with a tour for event planners on July 30.

“It’s really just a one-stop shop,” Dumera said. “We deal with the rentals here. When you book with us, your rental fees are taken care of for chairs, furniture — however you want to design your space.”
