Flight Wine Shop opens Crystal City store after D.C. departure

Flight Wine Shop has landed in Crystal City.

The local wine retailer celebrated a grand opening over the weekend at 269 19th Court S., on the ground floor of The Grace apartments. The new shop is a spinoff of D.C.’s former Flight Wine Bar, which spent a decade in Chinatown before closing in late 2023.

“It was really great. It went beyond my expectations,” co-owner Swati Bose told ARLnow today (Monday). “It was a lot of fun meeting new guests, welcoming back old guests and being able to pour wine again for them.”

Flight carries ‘minimal intervention’ wines

  • The store offers about 300 wines from 17 different countries and regions, including Italy, France, South Africa, the Balkans and Hungary.
  • It also sells wine accompaniments like charcuterie, as well as beer, mixers and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • “Wine makers focus on the land that their vines grow on, and taking care of the land and their environment, [and] minimal usage of any pesticides or chemicals,” Bose said. These practices continue in the cellar and wine-making processes.

The business has been nominated for awards

  • Under husband-and-wife duo Bose and Kabir Amir, Flight Wine Bar received nominations for the James Beard Foundation’s Outstanding Wine Program in 2020 and 2023.
  • They plan to host wine classes, tastings and vendor meet-and-greets at the new location.
  • The shop is open from 11 a.m.-8 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.
