A popular restaurant and bar with French and Chinese influences has set a spring opening for its Crystal City location.
Bar Chinois plans to open this May at 244 19th Court S., on the ground floor of The Grace and Reva apartments. It’ll be the restaurant’s second location, joining an acclaimed flagship spot in D.C.
“We are excited to bring Bar Chinois to National Landing,” co-owner Dean Mosones said in a release. “Our goal is to create the same energetic experience that brings people together — offering bold flavors, creative cocktails, and warm hospitality that keep guests coming back.”
It’s a 2024 RAMMY winner
- The restaurant’s D.C. location won a RAMMY award last year in the publicly voted category, “Best Bar.”
- It also captured Michelin Guide praise in 2022, with snaps for its swanky, “eternally lively” atmosphere and variety of dim sum.
- “While this may be a bar first … the kitchen takes its cooking seriously, offering a lineup of mouthwatering plates” the entry reads.
Its drinks have French flair
- The $14 Coco Marseille combines tequila, basil sesame coconut cream, French suze, honey and lime.
- Another option, the $15 Iron Goddess, uses tea-infused Wild Turkey bourbon, Montenegro, pimento dram, egg white, and blackstrap and vanilla bitters.
- There’s also about a dozen French wines, in addition to beer and zero-proof beverages.
There’s a $1 dumpling happy hour
- Half-priced cocktails and $1 dumplings with pork, chicken or vegetables are available from 5-7 p.m. daily.
- Other menu highlights include red chili wontons filled with pork and shrimp, crispy crab Rangoon bites with apricot duck sauce and umami garlic noodles.
- The restaurant expects to open during the first half of May, a publicist told ARLnow.
The location’s hours will be 5-11 p.m. daily.
