A new voucher program for Arlington residents seeking to buy electric bicycles is kicking off tomorrow.
The e-bike voucher program will provide about 250 vouchers that can be redeemed at participating bike shops. The main vouchers are as follows.
- Standard e-bike voucher: Up to $600 for Arlington residents over 18 with a valid ID
- Enhanced e-bike voucher: Up to $1,650 for Arlington residents over 18 with a valid ID, if their household is enrolled in a Department of Human Services program or they are a resident of an eligible affordable housing complex
People can apply to the program between tomorrow and Thursday, Aug. 28. Recipients will be randomly selected and will be notified via email.
“This program supports the County’s Community Energy Plan (CEP) by incentivizing residents to adopt lower-emissions transportation options and reduce travel via single-occupancy vehicles,” a county webpage says.
The program offers two types of vouchers: standard and enhanced. Enhanced vouchers are also paired with a voucher toward the purchase of an e-bike lock.
People will be able to redeem the vouchers at the following locations.
- Conte’s Bike Shop Alexandria 1100 King Street (Alexandria)
- Conte’s Bike Shop National Landing 1350 S. Eads Street, Suite 90
