Arlington Public Schools will dismiss two hours early Monday, due to the risk of severe weather.
The announcement was made just after 7:30 p.m. Sunday, after similar announcements from Fairfax County and Montgomery County schools. FCPS will dismiss even earlier: three hours early.
Severe thunderstorms, gusty winds and even some tornados are expected to rip through the D.C. area Monday, prompting strongly worded warnings from forecasters.

More, below, from APS.
Due to the potential for severe weather in the forecast tomorrow, all Arlington Public Schools schools and offices will close two hours early on Mon, March 16, 2026. All schools will dismiss two hours earlier than their regularly scheduled dismissal times.
All after-school and evening activities are canceled, including extracurricular activities, athletics, field trips, recreation programs and community use of school buildings. Afternoon Extended Day is also canceled.
The National Weather Service (NWS) forecasts a line of severe storms will impact the county late afternoon or early evening on Monday with the potential for significant wind damage with winds greater than 70 mph.
If conditions become unsafe for early dismissal, students will remain at school until a safe release is possible. We will provide updates to families if that occurs.
