Metro Announces Track Work Schedule

In case you want to plan for future weekend Metro delays and closures, the agency has released a schedule of major track work planned through the end of the year. The work includes Silver Line testing and track maintenance.

Man Arrested After Urinating on Blue Line Train

Around 9:45 a.m., transit police responded to the Arlington Cemetery station for a report of a suspicious man seen urinating on a Blue Line train and walking between the cars. The train was held at the station as a transit police officer attempted to deal with the suspect.

Instagram Has Video Filter Called ‘Clarendon’ — Updated at 2:25 p.m. –Yesterday, Facebook-owned photo app Instagram rolled out a feature that allows users to record video. As with photos, users can apply filters to the video. One of those filters is called “Clarendon,” but it turns out it was named after a street in San Francisco, not the Arlington neighborhood. Fitness First to Become Gold’s Gym

Members of the health club were notified of the planned acquisition via email today from founder Peter Harvey.

Fitness First’s Arlington location, at 1310 N. Courthouse Road in the Courthouse neighborhood, will be rebranded as a Gold’s Gym “within the next 2-3 months,” according to Gold’s spokeswoman Caitlin Maddox.

Ribbon Cutting for Virginia Highlands Sprayground

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held for the new sprayground at Virginia Highlands park yesterday evening.

Surrounded by a group of children patiently awaiting the water to be switched back on, Arlington County Board Chair Walter Tejada thanked those involved in the park’s creation, and touted the water-saving features of the water park. The sprayground saves 82,000 gallons of water per month by employing a water recirculation system, he said.

Construction Underway at Mussel Bar

Construction crews have been busy this week working on Mussel Bar & Grille, a new restaurant that’s coming to 800 N. Glebe Road in Ballston.

“Nothing is being revealed yet,” said spokeswoman Meg Mendelsohn. A liquor license application, filed this week, says the restaurant will have a seating capacity of more than 150 seats.

BonChon Chicken to Open in Lyon Park Next Month

The restaurant, located in Lyon Park on the ground floor of the new apartment complex at 2201 N. Pershing Drive, is “entering the final phases of construction,” according to a Facebook post. The restaurant expects to hold a soft opening “around the second week of July.”

“We should have a concrete date set by the end of next week,” a restaurant rep wrote.

Crime Report: Cell Phone Buyers Robbed

It sounds like a shady business transaction, so the end result is not entirely surprising. Last week, two people were robbed after showing up to a meeting they arranged to try to buy cell phones.
