Just Listed highlights Arlington properties that just came on the market within the past week. This feature is written and sponsored by Team Cathell, “Your Orange Line Specialists.”

Incredibly, 30 bold buyers this week braved the ice and snow to ratify contracts on homes in Arlington, including a $2.1 million home in Country Club Hills that had been on the market 224 days. All those buyers deserve a trophy. And not surprisingly, only 20 intrepid sellers put their homes on the market this week despite the snow blocked streets and shutdown neighborhoods. Of those homes that sold this week, the average days on market dropped to 64 and the average list price was $627,000.

Notch 8 means “full throttle” on a diesel-electric locomotive, pushing the train to as fast as it can go, which makes it an appropriate name for the just-opened upscale apartment building at Alexandria’s Potomac Yard that pulls out all the stops.

This six-story apartment building is located in the historic former railroad yard and is designed to keep residents going full throttle by offering a number of amenities to enhance today’s modern lifestyle. (It’s not all high-octane: The hammocks in the courtyard are an example of how residents can slow things down, if they wish).

I’d like to apologize to the two readers of my column; due to the panic of the blizzard, there was no time to write a serious article. So I decided to share our blizzard growler fill list. Don’t be stuck at home during the blizzard without fresh beer.
