The dog days of summer are well underway and the D.C. area’s string of consecutive hot days is far from over.

Arlington and most of the area will be under yet another Heat Advisory on Monday. The advisory takes effect at noon, as heat index values climb north of 100, reaching a peak of around 105 later in the afternoon.


If you thought yesterday was hot, today is going to be even more sweltering.

Arlington County, along with D.C. and much of the region, is under a Heat Advisory starting at noon. Heat index values could soar as high as 109, making extended time spent outdoors potentially dangerous, particularly for those more susceptible to heat-related illnesses.


It’s going to be a scorching July 4 in the D.C. area.

Arlington County, along with D.C. and other surrounding areas, are under a Heat Advisory from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday. Potentially dangerous heat is expected amid Independence Day festivities — and there’s a possibility of storms throughout the day as well.


Arlington — as well as D.C. and surrounding areas —  is under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch this (Sunday) afternoon.

The National Weather Service just issued the watch, which is in effect until 11 p.m.


Arlington County and most of the D.C. area is now under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch.

Arlington is at a lower risk of severe storms than points to the south and east, according to the National Weather Service, but is nonetheless included in the watch, along with D.C. and neighboring Virginia counties.


It’s going to be a rainy Wednesday — so much so that a Flood Watch has been issued for Arlington and part of the region.

Despite some light sprinkles this morning, the bulk of the rain is expected later this afternoon and could include some heavy downpours.
