Arlington County Police Department officers got free cold-cut sandwiches, cookies and iced tea last night as a thank-you for their work in Lyon Village.
The Lyon Village Citizens’ Association gave the dinner to about 20 cops at the neighborhood’s community house during the officers’ breaks, said John Carten, a member of the organization’s executive committee.
(Updated at 6 p.m.) Two men wanted for stealing tires and rims from at least three cars in the Pentagon City area this month have been caught on camera, Arlington County Police said today.
The thefts happened on the 1600 block of S. Joyce Street around 7:15 a.m. on Sept. 8, the 1300 block of Army Navy Drive around 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 8 and the 900 block of S. 15th Street around 3 a.m. on Sept. 20.
Update at 1:45 p.m. — In a statement, Arlington County Police say the teen was in the crosswalk when she was struck by a car traveling eastbound on Lee Highway.
The driver of the vehicle rendered aid to the victim and remained on scene until the arrival of police units. Sun glare was present for eastbound traffic on Lee Highway at the time of the collision and is being investigated as a contributing factor. No charges have been filed at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
Arlington County Police released photos today of a man they say sold fake tickets to a recent Drake concert on Craigslist.
“The subject posted ads on Craigslist for tickets to the Drake concert on August 19 and met the victims in Pentagon City,” police said in a Facebook post.
The threat prompted a sweep of the building, which houses Arlington County Police headquarters and local courts. No explosives were found.

Police say the woman was attending to her child in the back seat of the vehicle when a man got into the car from the passenger side door and took a wallet from her purse.
(Updated at 10:40 a.m.) There was a break-in this morning at Nova Armory, the recently-opened gun store in Lyon Park, but no guns were taken, according to police.
Officers were dispatched to the scene just after 5 a.m. for an activated burglar alarm.
The incident happened last night around 8:30 p.m. in Rosslyn. It started, police say, when they were called for a “disorderly” man who had slapped someone in the face several times after an argument.

(Updated at 10:25 a.m.) This is at least the second morning in a row that people have called Arlington County Police to report gridlock at the intersection of Lynn Street and Wilson Blvd in Rosslyn.
The intersection is usually problematic but has been even more so recently due to construction on the Central Place project, which has blocked 1-2 left lanes of Lynn Street for the past two years.
