A large-scale flyover planned for Saturday is expected to bring some air traffic at National Airport to a temporary halt.

Two dozen groups of general aviation aircraft are expected to fly from Frederick, Maryland, down the Potomac River and across the National Mall. The Mall flyover is scheduled to take place between noon and 1 p.m.

Virginia’s senators are stepping up efforts to nix a proposal to add five more round-trip flights to Reagan National Airport.

A Florida man is facing a criminal citation after being caught with a gun at an airport checkpoint for the second time, according to federal authorities.

The man was stopped at Reagan National Airport on Tuesday, trying to bring a loaded 9mm handgun through a security checkpoint. He told officers that “he wanted to travel with the firearm for protection,” according to the Transportation Security Administration.
