The annual wine and food festival known as Vintage Crystal: A Taste of Wine and Jazz was held Sunday afternoon in Crystal City.

The event featured tastings of more than 30 types of Spanish and South American wines, as well as free food samples from local eateries like Jaleo, Ruth’s Chris Steak House and Kora. There was also live performances of Latin jazz, rumba, salsa, and samba music — complete with dancing.

Here are a few of our photos from the event.

would someone explain the allure of street festivals to me.
all i see are: lines, poor food handling, dance floor of questionable size and elevated, standing, asphalt, marginal music of “originals”.
i just don’t get the attraction.

      i know i wasn’t missed.
      i know i didn’t miss anything.
but it is a serious question — obviously people like these events.
but why? i don’t see fun anywhere. and “something to do” just doesn’t fit on my schedule.
