Remembrance Day was established in 2006 in honor of Tara Howard, a Marymount freshman who was tragically killed in a car accident in Baltimore. Howard’s parents, Bill and Linda, were on hand to help out with the beautification.
The clean-up was also dedicated to Marymount students Adam Dowell, Mateo Rios and Maggie Dibble. Dowell and Rios were also killed in car accidents.

State May Force Arlington To Cough Up $1.5 Million — Arlington County, already raising taxes and cutting services due to a multi-million dollar budget deficit, may be forced to send $1.5 million to the state in the form of cash or reductions in state-funded programs. Virginia lawmakers are forcing localities to make the payments to plug the state’s own budget gap, according to the Washington Examiner.
Arlington Man Found Dead in D.C. — Arlington resident Isidoro Flores, 44, was found shot to death in northeast Washington early Saturday morning. His body was found near a tractor-trailer with an open passenger door, reports ABC7.
Stanford Parris, a Republican who represented the eighth district of Virginia in congress for most of the 1980s, has died from heart disease at the age of 80.
Parris was an Air Force veteran. He was rescued after the jet he was piloting was shot down over North Korea.

Police detained and questioned two men near the new Northside Social in Clarendon around 1:00 this afternoon, as a lunchtime crowd looked on. Officers were seen blocking off roads and scouring the area, looking for a possible third suspect.
