An urgent care clinic is coming to to South Fern Street in Pentagon City.

The clinic may be named “Pentagon Health,” according to building permits in the windows. It’s located between a Dunkin’ Donuts and a UPS Store, across from Costco, and just down the street from the future location of the current Eads Street Post Office.

The only thing missing is a 7-11.

    • PCB

      There’s a 7-11 just down the street. 1500 S. Fern.

  • Zach

Isn’t that pretty much exactly where Arlington Urgent Care used to be?

    • Lou

Yep. The old one was 1311 Fern, in an old converted warehouse.

Who uses these places? Do they get state funds? If not, the illegals will still go to the ER. Is this for underinsured or noninsured people?

    • RosRes

@Steve – Its for people who want to see a doctor quickly who don’t want to wait to get an appointment with their own doctor and don’t have anything serious enough to warrant a trip to the ER. The flu, poison Ivy, a piece of glass in your foot, whatever. They accept certaim health insurance (like Blue Cross or United Health) or you can pay out of pocket. I’ve used it several times. It’s good and convenient.

This is great news. Let us know when it is open?

  • Creebs

Wasn’t there one going into National Gateway at one point, too? did that ever open?

  • Arlingtonian

What we really need is a full service emergency room, connected to a hospital or not.

    • Lou

I agree. That area needs something like the Healthplex that INOVA developed in Franconia. Start with a 24-hour ER and lease out the rest to doctors.

  • Will they take insurance?

I miss having easy access to clean, quality, high-customer-service walk-in doctors offices that take insurance.

A chain called “Patient First” offers this in the suburbs of Baltimore and Richmond and the DC exurbs (Leesburg, Manassas, Fredericksburg, Waldorf), but there’s nothing really like it in Arlington that I know of.

    • RosRes

      They take insurance.

Whatever happened to the idea of paying for your own medical care yourself?

I’ve used an urgent care facility before. Paid out-of-pocket. Wasn’t that expensive.

people this is great. Why be afraid of it. Tes they take insurance ! Its state of the art. It gives flu shots! Its not expensive if you dont have insurance. It was a life saver during 9/11! It keeps emergency rooms from getting clogged w/ small things

The Urgent Care at 1311 S Fern St in Pentagon City appears to be open for business. I walked past it today and the lights are on and someone is at the reception desk.

  • good place for an urgent care facility

  • Joey

FYI, the place is open and is called XPress Care.

    They take insurance, luckily.
