An Arlington eatery is on the Mexican ambassador’s list of go-to spots for a taste of home in the D.C. area.

In addition to restaurants in Columbia Heights and on 14th Street in D.C., Ambassador Esteban Moctezuma Barragán named Tacombi in Crystal City as a favorite taco destination in an interview with Axios.

The growing New York City-based taqueria chain opened at 1550 Crystal Drive in late 2021. The ambassador told Axios D.C. that “their birria taco never disappoints.”

Tacombi has plenty of taco competition in Arlington.

The El Chilango truck in the Courthouse area was once named to Yelp’s list of the “Top 100 Places to Eat” in the United States, while Taco Bamba — with locations in Ballston and Shirlington — was the top vote-getter in a 2023 ARLnow reader poll of favorite Arlington taco spots.
