A pair of reported armed robberies added to a busy Wednesday for Arlington County police.
The first happened shortly before 2:30 p.m. at the McDonald’s near the Rosslyn Metro station. Initial reports suggest that a woman armed with a pink gun demanded a burger.
“Police were dispatched to the report of a person with a gun,” said a new Arlington County Police Department crime report. “The preliminary investigation indicates the suspect entered a business, allegedly demanded food and brandished what appeared to be a firearm. The suspect then stole food items and fled the scene on foot.”
“Responding officers located the suspect at Wilson Boulevard and N. Fort Myer Drive and took them into custody without incident,” the crime report continues. “During a search incident to arrest, a toy gun and suspected narcotics were recovered.”
The suspect, a 23-year-old trans woman who was reported missing in D.C. this past fall, was held without bond on charges of robbery and drug possession.
Later Wednesday, a man robbed a therapeutic massage business on N. Randolph Street in Ballston while brandishing what turned out to be a stun gun. Two employees were injured, according to police, and the suspect fled the scene with stolen cash.
“At approximately 7:26 p.m. on May 29, police were dispatched to the report of an armed robbery,” said ACPD. “Upon arrival, it was determined that a male suspect entered a business and stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the cash register. When confronted by two employees, the suspect assaulted both employees and brandished a stun gun before fleeing the scene on foot.”
“The employees sustained non-life threatening injuries with one being treated on scene by medics and the other declining treatment,” the crime report continued.
The suspect was said to be a man around 25-30 years of age.
