The high heat is not the only severe weather our region will see today.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch was just issued for Arlington, D.C. and much of the rest of the area.
The watch is in effect until 10 p.m. Storms are starting to pop up, fueled by the hot and humid air mass that has been producing sweltering conditions this week.
Forecasters say hail, strong winds and even some tornados are possible this afternoon and evening.
