Ruffino’s Spaghetti House is under new ownership, with plans to spruce up the menu and decor while still serving up customer favorites, management said.
New owner Henry Saavedra is reviewing the menu of Italian cuisine and plans to cut some items and add a few new ones — but regulars shouldn’t fret, he told ARLnow.
“If anyone has a favorite in the previous menu, don’t worry,” Saavedra said. “Just ask your server and we should still be able to make it.”
The sit-down restaurant at 4763 Langston Blvd — which does significant takeout and delivery business — has a wide menu of signature pizzas, pasta dishes, subs and entrees centered on chicken, seafood or veal. Many dishes are customizable, with “create your own” options available for calzones, pizzas, pasta and stromboli.
Under new ownership, Ruffino’s will remain fairly similar on the inside, with some extra TLC. Saavedra hopes to give the place an updated look with fresh paint, new table setups and some familiar faces on the walls.
“In the future, we would love to hang pictures of the families that have been coming to the restaurant for decades,” he said.
Saavedra purchased the business about a month ago after a career spent in the restaurant industry. He previously worked as a general manager, cook and busboy in restaurants at Reagan National Airport.
Saavedra’s wife and her family used to own a pasta and pizza restaurant in Los Angeles. Ever since they moved to Arlington, the couple has been dreaming of owning a business here.
Ruffino’s opened in 1975, underwent extensive renovations in 2011, and has seen a few owners over the decades. Before Saavedra, a then-30-year-old lawyer from Egypt bought the restaurant nearly four years ago, fulfilling a lifelong dream.
