Chinese dumpling and noodle spot aims for spring opening in Rosslyn

A Chinese dumpling and noodle restaurant plans to open in Rosslyn this spring.

Yu Noodles recently signed a lease at 1515 Wilson Blvd, in the retail bay formerly held by Tom Yum District.

Co-owners Cody Zhou and Tea Shao promise “authentic Chinese cuisine” with dumplings served steamed, pan-fried or filled with soup, and noodles served up in soups, stir-fries and cold dishes.

“My favorite is the soup dumplings,” Zhou told ARLnow. “I was eating that when we were living back in China. It’s a very traditional, dim sum-style food.”

Shao, meanwhile, said the restaurant is “really famous” for its Chongqing-style noodles served in a spicy soup.

The restaurant will offer both sit-down service and takeout. Zhou thinks the concept lends itself well to grab-and-go service, which he believes will pair nicely with Rosslyn’s high concentration office buildings.

The location will be Yu Noodles’ eighth location across Maryland and Virginia.

“This brand overall already gained popularity, especially in the DMV area,” Shao said. “I think a lot of people will be excited, especially, you know, the neighborhood and the local residents around here.”

Zhou and Shao also own a few other D.C.-area eateries, including Ocean Shack along N. Glebe Road in Waverly Hills.

Interior renovations at the address are forthcoming. If all goes well, Yu Noodles could open as soon as April, the co-owners said.
