A new shop offering acai bowls, smoothies and other nutritious treats has opened for business in Courthouse.
With a vibrant, surfer-inspired atmosphere and tagline, “Welcome to Pineappleland,” Playa Bowls is bringing treats packed with fresh fruit to 2055 15th Street N. It is the company’s first Arlington location, joining nearby outposts in Alexandria, Fairfax and D.C.
Playa Bowls is open from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. every day
- The shop opened its doors in late December on the ground floor of The Commodore apartments, across the street from the Metro station.
- The New Jersey-based business offers customizable acai and smoothie bowls and over 20 smoothie varieties.
- The new location is running an Instagram sweepstakes to win a $100 gift card until Jan. 9.
It has six different smoothie bowl bases
- The bases are acai, pitaya, coconut, mango, banana and “green” — a mix of kale, banana, pineapple and coconut milk.
- Bowl toppings include fresh fruit, granola, Nutella and peanut butter.
- Playa Bowls also offers steel cut oatmeal, cold pressed juice and iced coffee.
More retail is coming to The Commodore this year
- Maman, a French bakery and cafe, is expected to open this summer at the same address.
- Other additions include the recently opened YogaSix studio and soon-to-come Rumble Boxing gym.
