An acclaimed Chinese noodle restaurant is hosting a grand opening in Pentagon City this week.
Yunnan by Potomac is now at 721 15th Street S. — a relocation from its flagship Old Town Alexandria restaurant, which closed earlier this month.
The grand opening is Wednesday, Jan. 29
- The noodle house led by chef and owner Shao Bruce delivers cuisine from the Yunnan region of southwest China.
- The star of Yunnan’s menu is mixian, “a slippery, light and almost fluffy rice noodle,” served with broths, flavorful sauces and braised meats.
- A new weekend brunch menu includes tea-smoked salmon Benedict and scallion pancake breakfast tacos, according to a press release.
The restaurant has national acclaim
- The Old Town Alexandria location, which first opened in 2019, ranked No. 42 on Yelp’s Top 100 U.S. Restaurants list in 2022.
- That location served mixian as well as small plates, bao buns, jiaozi dumplings, shaokao barbecue and more.
- The new location will also feature dumpling- and cocktail-making classes.
There’s a special Lunar New Year menu
- A celebratory holiday menu features whole Norwegian king crab, longevity mixian noodles, jiaozi dumplings and crispy whole red snapper.
- The restaurant also plans to offer take-home meal packages, or “family feasts.”
- Specialty cocktails include the lychee-infused “Dragon Blossom” and the “Jade Emperor,” mixed with cucumber, gin and elderflower.
Yunnan by Potomac’s dining room will be open from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and 5-10 p.m., Monday through Sunday. The cocktail bar is open 4-10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 4-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
