A new gelato shop and a fast-casual Guatemalan restaurant are celebrating their debuts at the Pentagon City mall this week.
Amorino Gelato al Naturale opened yesterday (Tuesday) at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City (1100 S. Hayes Street), while Pollo Campero is expected to celebrate a grand opening on Friday with free giveaways.
Amorino has Italian-style sweets
- The dessert franchise offers over two dozen gelato and sorbet flavors, available to order in a cup or cone with a signature rose petal design.
- Amorino also sells customizable waffles and crepes, as well as gelato macarons, milkshakes and espresso drinks.
- The new shop is located near the food court and escalators on the mall’s Metro level, next to Panda Tea House.
Pollo Campero opens at 10 a.m. Friday
- The Guatemalan franchise sells fried and grilled chicken, sandwiches, empanadas, salads and bowls. Sides include sweet plantains and yuca fries.
- The first 100 guests will be entered into a chance to win two free meals each month for a year. There will also be “prizes and giveaways,” according to a release.
- Pollo Campero is located near Popeyes and across from Amorino Gelato on the mall’s Metro level.
More openings this spring
- Mezeh Mediterranean Grill and Kati Roll Wala are also expected to open later this month.
- Tous les Jours, a French and Asian-inspired bakery, is expected to fill a vacancy left by Maizal last year, though an opening date is to be determined.
Both Amorino Gelato and Pollo Campero will be open from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sundays.
