New ‘Club Pilates’ plans July opening in Clarendon

A different kind of exercise is coming to the site of a longtime martial arts studio in Clarendon.

Club Pilates plans to open in late July at 3000 Washington Blvd, joining the neighborhood’s growing landscape of gyms and wellness industry businesses. It replaces Urban Kempo, a martial arts studio that closed last year after a decade in business.

“We’re excited to be a part of the local Arlington community and look forward to bringing more Pilates classes to Clarendon, as well as partnering with other local businesses in the neighborhood once we open,” Manager Jennifer Sabol told ARLnow.

Classes cater to different skill levels

  • The nationwide pilates chain’s 50-minute workouts focus on low-impact movements using reformer machines, EXO Chairs and springboards.
  • The studio will offer individual sessions and group classes for up to 12 people, with skill levels ranging from beginner to advanced.
  • “We do offer a variety of signature classes to allow members to vary their workouts with strengthening, cardio, mobility, and stretching,” Sabol said.

Opening discounts are available

  • Club Pilates offers monthly memberships and drop-in classes. At the studio’s Pentagon City location, a drop-in class costs $39.
  • The Clarendon studio is offering a three-month, 20% pre-sale discount on unlimited and eight-class memberships. First-time classes are also free.

It’s a bustling area for fitness

  • The neighborhood in America’s “fittest city” has a bustling fitness scene, home to Gold’s Gym, SoulCycle, Orangetheory and other workout spots.
  • The wellness industry is growing in tandem, with studio openings for facials and cryotherapy on the horizon.
