New Ace Hardware plans Crystal City opening this fall

An Ace Hardware is coming to Crystal City.

Jeff Smith is opening Arlington’s second Twins Ace Hardware on the ground floor of The Zoe apartments at 2051 S. Bell Street. It’s expected to open this fall, developer JBG Smith announced in a release today (Tuesday).

Jeff Smith and his brother, Craig Smith, opened an Arlington Ace store in Courthouse in 2016 and founded another in Fairfax City, which is currently under new ownership.

“Opening Twins Ace in National Landing was about more than continuing a family legacy—it was about creating a place where the community feels at home,” Jeff Smith said in the release. “Twins Ace is so much more than a hardware store. We’ve worked hard to build a neighborhood destination where people can find everything from tools and paint to unique gifts, party supplies, plants, and more.”

The new store will take up the entirety of The Zoe’s ground floor, with just over 8,000 square feet of space. The 420-unit apartment building began leasing in December.

Brandon Taff, senior vice president of commercial asset management for JBG Smith, said the store will make an “excellent addition” to the neighborhood’s retail landscape.

“We’re strategically enhancing our offerings with a retailer that perfectly bridges the hardware and home goods landscape, providing residents convenient access to a versatile shopping destination all under one roof,” Taff said.
