A colorful new spot for Tex Mex and other Latin-inspired flavors is set to open in Crystal City this week.
La Posada, a new eatery by veteran restaurateur Julian Giraldo, plans to soft open on Thursday at 320 23rd Street S., on the ground floor of Quimby on 23rd apartments.
A menu of ‘comfort foods’
- Roasted poblano braised beef ribs and duck with guajillo sauce are on the soft opening menu, in addition to salads, burgers, cocktails and frozen drinks.
- Street tacos are available “al pastor” or with birria, carnitas or mushrooms and pineapple. Appetizers include tuna tostada and an empanada trio.
- During the soft opening, La Posada is offering free desserts like tres leches and cannoli-inspired dessert tacos.
‘Posada’ carries special meaning
- The restaurant’s name pays homage to the maiden name of Giraldo’s grandmother.
- In some Latin American communities, “posada” also refers to cozy family meals, especially those enjoyed during Christmastime.
- Giraldo has spent 20 years in the D.C.-area restaurant scene. He previously managed Franco Zeppi Italian Restaurant in Baltimore.
La Posada’s hours are from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
