The Flood Watch is effective from 3 p.m. Thursday through midnight.
Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible as thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and continue through late evening. Forecasters are particularly concerned about slow-moving storms over the I-95 corridor, where rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible, with isolated amounts up to 4 inches.
These heavy rains could occur over a short period of time, potentially resulting in dangerous flash flooding conditions across the region.
