A new juice shop is coming to Pizza Roma’s former space near the Ballston Metro station, after Scolapasta backed out of plans there this spring.
Paradise Juice has signed a lease and is preparing to open at 4219 Fairfax Drive, owner Sal Salim told ARLnow. He hopes to differentiate the shop from competitors by preparing juices in-house.
“[Other shops] weren’t using actual fresh fruits,” Salim said. “They might have, like, ‘fresh juices,’ but they’re in the box, they come [from] concentrate. With this concept, it’s basically like, you see the fruit right in front of you.”
‘Paradise Juice’ plans to serve juice, acai and more
- Inspired by vendors in the Middle East, the shop plans to serve juices prepared live in front of customers, as well as smoothies, acai bowls and pastries.
- Salim is founding the juicery with business partner Sam Ahmed, who owns Tasty Chicken Box in Lyon Park.
- The shop is awaiting construction permits, but aims to open in three months.
It’ll open near a new gym
- Salim said the location, in the same strip mall as the new Performance360 fitness center, appealed to him and Ahmed.
- Ballston is home to a couple other options for smoothies and juice, including a South Block and Tropical Smoothie Cafe.
- “A lot of healthier clienteles [live here],” Salim said. “We noticed that’s something that they’re going to actually prefer in that area. They need a healthier option.”
