Renovated hotel with new restaurant re-opens in Crystal City after 10 months

A freshly renovated hotel with 355 rooms and a new restaurant and patio hosted a ribbon cutting in Crystal City today (Friday).

The new AC Hotel Arlington National Landing, formerly the Crystal City Marriott, is the largest location in North America for AC Hotels, the European-inspired hospitality group owned by Marriott.

It opened for business late last month after 10 months of renovations to the tune of $35 million.

“We’re so grateful to be part of this vibrant National Landing community,” General Manager Ben Joseph said at a ceremony at 1999 Richmond Highway. “We’ve been welcomed with open arms, and it’s our hope that we become … more than just a place to stay — it becomes a gathering place for the neighborhood as well.”

New features include a revamped second floor with 8,800 square feet of space for meetings and events, spread across 11 rooms. The renovations also added a 4,000-square-foot fitness center with Peloton and Life Fitness equipment.

A new restaurant and bar, the AC Kitchen & Lounge, is also now open on the first floor, with seating indoors and outdoors on a renovated patio with fire pits.

It offers full-service breakfast and a European-inspired breakfast buffet. The dinner menu leans into Spanish tapas and items inspired by executive chef Anoop Nathoo’s Mauritian heritage.

Happy hour is from 4-6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with $10 cocktails, $7 wines and $6 beer bottles.

Guests at the ribbon cutting included Chamber of Commerce CEO Kate Bates and Arlington Economic Development Director Ryan Touhill, who said the hotel’s opening reflects ongoing expansion in the National Landing area.

“I think confidence and credibility that this neighborhood is on the rise,” Touhill said. “We’ve had more companies in our pipeline looking at coming to National Landing now than we’ve had in a few years.”

Notable recent additions to Crystal City include the recent opening of Valen apartments, as well as ongoing business openings at The Grace and Reva.

Elsewhere in Arlington, Hilton Hotels and Resorts will welcome the first guests to its new Rosslyn hotel next Tuesday, Aug. 26.
