Vegetarian-friendly cafe ‘Life Alive’ opening next week in Ballston

An organic eatery encouraging diners to “eat positive” is opening soon in Ballston.

Life Alive Cafe intends to open on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 818 N. Quincy Street, filling a retail bay that held Bruegger’s Bagels until April 2023.

The menu highlights “nutrient-dense recipes”

  • Life Alive offers a variety of grain bowls, acai bowls, salads and handhelds, focused on “unlocking the powerful connection between what we eat and how we feel,” according to the cafe’s website.
  • “With a focus on nutrient-dense recipes and organic, minimally processed ingredients, the concept provides a fresh approach to eating that nourishes energy, optimism, and overall well-being,” a press release said.
  • There will be 55 seats inside the 2,800-square-foot restaurant. An additional 30 outdoor seats will be open “on a vibrant, greenery-filled patio,” according to a spokesperson.

The grand opening will feature free merch

  • While the Ballston restaurant will be Life Alive’s second in the D.C. area, it’s the brand’s first in Virginia.
  • Starting with the grand opening, the restaurant will be open daily from 7 a.m. – 9 p.m.
  • The first 100 customers on opening day will receive “beautifully branded gift bags featuring signature goodies, special offers, and surprises from a local partner,” according to a press release.
