ACPD investigating shot fired in Arlington View neighborhood

Arlington County police are looking for a man who fired a gunshot in the Arlington View neighborhood Saturday night.

The incident happened shortly before 11 p.m. on Dec. 27, on the 1700 block of 14th Road S., according to the latest ACPD crime report. That’s near Army Navy Country Club and Hoffman-Boston Elementary — and across I-395 from Pentagon City.

“The preliminary investigation indicates the male victim was outside when the male suspect approached in a vehicle, displayed what appeared to be a firearm and discharged the firearm into the air,” said the crime report. “The suspect then fled the scene in his vehicle described as a silver SUV. No injuries or property damage from the shooting were reported.”

The suspect remains at large and police are still investigating. It’s not clear what prompted the gunfire.

“Responding officers conducted a canvass of the area for the suspect and the vehicle yielding negative results,” the crime report notes.

It’s the second instance of shots being fired in Arlington over the weekend, after gunfire near Courthouse earlier in the day.

Also Saturday night, a boy with a gun was among a group of four teens who allegedly stole another teen’s hat during a robbery in Pentagon City.
