A cupcake vending machine has departed Reagan National Airport, but several new dining spots are still on their way.
Sprinkles Cupcakes has closed its “cupcake ATMs,” including one at the airport that opened last year, as it shuttered all locations nationwide last week.
“These machines have been taken out of service to ensure passengers do not purchase outdated or expired products until the machines can be permanently removed,” an airport spokesperson told ARLnow.
On the other hand, Mi Vida (Concourse B), Colada Shop (Concourse C) and Busboys and Poets (Concourse D) are all listed as “coming soon” on the airport’s online dining directory. More specific information about their expected openings was not immediately available.
Wiseguy Pizza, initially announced last May, is still progressing toward opening in the airport’s C Concourse, though an airport spokesperson previously told ARLnow that “construction timelines are very fluid.”
Last year was a busy one for Reagan National’s dining scene as several new retail tenants opened at the airport:
- Local burger and fry restaurant Five Guys (Concourse D)
- Indie bookstore Solid State Books (National Hall)
- Eastern Market, a shop offering artisan-made items (National Hall)
- Build your own bowl, wrap, or salad restaurant Nalley Fresh (Concourse D)
- Half Moon Empanadas, offering the handheld pastries stuffed with bold Latin flavors (Concourse B and National Hall)
- DC-branded goods store Capital Tops (National Hall)
- The dog-focused Good Boy Goodies (Terminal 2)
- Farmer’s Fridge, offering salads and snacks stocked daily in smart fridges (Concourse B and Terminal 1)
