A Latin street food eatery in the Ballston Quarter’s food court looks to have served its last bites.
Maizal, a local chain that opened in the mall’s Quarter Market in 2019, has been boarded up. No renovation permits appear to have been filed for the space, and the brand did not respond to a request for comment.
The restaurant is no longer listed on Ballston Quarter’s restaurant directory.
Maizal has no other Arlington restaurants
- Along with the Ballston location, Maizal previously operated a restaurant in the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City.
- This closed in 2024 after less than a year in business.
- Maizal’s website still lists three locations in D.C. and a fourth in Charlottesville.
It offered fast-casual South American food
- Maizal’s menu features Latin dishes including arepas, tacos and build-your-own bowls.
- The brand is perhaps best known for its selection of empanadas, with brisket, steak, shrimp and spicy chicken curry options.
