Deli and sandwich shop Booeymonger has closed its doors in Arlington.
Nepalese restaurant Himalayan Wild Yak is now expected to occupy the space at 1010 N. Glebe Road in Ballston, but it likely won’t open before January 2025, owner Dipraj Magar told ARLnow.
Magar previously hoped to open the restaurant this spring under a different name, Thakali Bhatti. Those plans have since changed as planning and permitting are still underway, Magar said.
The Ballston restaurant will be Magar’s second Himalayan Wild Yak location, in addition to the original in Ashburn. Magar said the second restaurant will be “very similar” to the first, which specializes in traditional Nepalese cuisine and offers several dishes with yak meat, a cultural staple.
Booeymonger, a long-time D.C. area staple that used to have several area locations, now just has one that remains open, in the District’s Friendship Heights neighborhood.
