A “Jew-ish” deli with something of a cult following is coming to Crystal City early next year.
Call Your Mother, known for its bagels that blend New York and Montreal styles, plans to open a new kiosk at the Water Park along Crystal Drive in “early 2025,” according to property owner JBG SMITH.
The deli will join a growing roster of dining options at the 1.6-acre outdoor culinary space.
Since opening its first location in D.C.’s Park View neighborhood in 2018, Call Your Mother has rapidly expanded across the D.C. area, with shops in Capitol Hill, Georgetown, Bethesda, McLean, Vienna and Old Town Alexandria.
The deli has earned national recognition for its creative takes on Jewish classics, including features in Food & Wine and Bon Appétit magazines.
“We’re delighted to welcome local fan favorite Call Your Mother to Water Park,” said Brandon Taff, Senior Vice President at JBG SMITH. “Their arrival further enhances our terrific lineup of kiosks and full-service offerings.”
“With two full-service restaurants and a collection of grab-and-go food stalls, Water Park is the ideal spot to meet friends for lunch, enjoy happy hour with coworkers, or celebrate in style,” a PR rep said.
It’s the latest expansion for the growing local chain, which has gained a following for what it describes as a playful approach to traditional Jewish deli fare, paired with a serious focus on its bagels. Its most recently opened in a strip mall at 205 Maple Avenue East in Vienna.
The new Call Your Mother location replaces the breakfast sandwich spot Cracked Eggery, which filed for bankruptcy earlier this month.
