A new fitness studio has entered Ballston’s wellness scene, hosting group workout classes with elements of yoga and Pilates.
Fitness franchise FS8, which specializes in reformer Pilates, yoga and low impact training, is now open for business at 4001 9th Street N. The new studio held a grand opening over the weekend with Olympic diving medalist Kassidy Cook.
Cook, who silver medaled in the women’s 3-meter springboard synchro during the 2024 Olympics in Paris, is one of the gym’s brand ambassadors, alongside surfer Cristina Chan. Cook is also a coach for the gym franchise, according to her LinkedIn.

FS8 hosts three “signature” workouts with varying movements and equipment, including an “ignite” class focused on resistance training and a “ReformX” exclusively focused on reformer moves.
The studio’s name stands for “functional” and “style,” while the eight “represents the key exercise elements at the core of FS8 low impact training,” according to the studio’s website.
“We blend science-backed moves with the best of Pilates, Tone, and Yoga to help you lengthen, strengthen, stabilize, and mobilize your body,” its website says. “Think full-body results that go beyond the Reformer — boosting not just your physical strength, but your mental wellbeing too.”
The new studio is currently offering a two-week, five-class introduction trial with access to classes, coaching, digital blogs and in-app nutrition support for $59. Discounted “foundation memberships” are also available, starting at a $60 biweekly subscription.
Fs8 is the latest addition to Ballston’s considerable fitness landscape, joining the neighborhood’s several gyms and boutique studios, including Onelife at Ballston Quarter, which recently unveiled an expanded gym.
The studio has dozens of locations across the United States and is owned by Apex Wellness Group, which also operates the F45 Training studio franchise.
