An Arlington pie shop is now, by at least one measure, the best in the country.
Livin’ The Pie Life, at 2166 N. Glebe Road, finished first among the 10 winners of Newsweek’s “America’s Best Pie 2026” Readers’ Choice Awards. The magazine published the results on Sept. 9.
Newsweek editors selected 20 nominees, and readers picked the winners through an online poll that ran until Aug. 26. Voters could cast one vote per category per day.
The shop campaigned for it. When ARLnow visited in July, a sign with a QR code linking to the ballot was posted outside the door on N. Glebe Road.
“We’re hopeful this poll might bring some national recognition, but we’re also hoping our hometown heroes will be proud of us and come out to support us by voting,” co-owner Heather Sheire told ARLnow at the time.
Sheire and co-owner Wendy MacCallum started Livin’ The Pie Life in 2011, selling at farmers markets before opening the Glebe Road storefront in 2016. The crust the shop is known for takes three days to make.
“We use a lot of butter — there’s a lot of butter in that crust,” Sheire said in July. “The result is that it’s very flaky and crispy.”
Three of the other nine winners are in Michigan. The rest are in Texas, Georgia, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Maine and Washington state. Livin’ The Pie Life was the only D.C.-area business among the winners and the 10 shops Newsweek listed as finalists.
Arlington’s other dedicated pie shop, Acme Pie Co., moved into a new Columbia Pike storefront last year.
