Expect showers and potential thunderstorms, mainly after 2pm, with increasing clouds and a high of 78°F, accompanied by a west wind at 5-7 mph. There’s a 70% chance of precipitation, with new rainfall amounts under a tenth of an inch, though higher in thunderstorms. For Wednesday night, showers and possible thunderstorms are likely before 8pm, followed by scattered showers between 8pm and 11pm. Skies will be partly cloudy with a low of 57°F and a northwest wind at 7 mph. Precipitation chance is 60%, with new amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, and higher in thunderstorms. ACPD: Woman, 70, charged with malicious wounding, abduction after pepper spray incident

A 70-year-old Arlington woman is facing a pair of felony charges after a confrontation at a condo building allegedly turned violent.

The incident happened around 2 p.m. Friday on the 3000 block of Spout Run Parkway, an address that corresponds with the Cardinal House Condominiums.

Video: Falls Church man charged with hit and run that seriously hurt motorcyclist

A 45-year-old man from Falls Church was arrested Sunday and charged in a serious hit-and-run crash that was caught on camera.

The crash happened around 12:40 p.m. Sunday in the southbound lanes of I-395 near the Pentagon.

Northbound GW Parkway closure and detour planned this weekend

A big traffic pattern change is coming this weekend, as part of ongoing construction on the GW Parkway.

The northbound lanes of the Parkway will close between Route 123, just north of Arlington, and the Beltway. The closure will allow for work on the ramp from the Parkway to I-495.

Spirit Wants New DCA Flight — “Spirit Airlines Inc. wants to add a nonstop flight from Reagan National Airport to San Jose Mineta International Airport in Santa Clara, California, as the jockeying intensifies among airlines to land new long-haul slots coming to DCA. The low-cost airline said Thursday if its application to the U.S. Department of Transportation is approved, the new flight will offer travelers the only nonstop, low-fare service between Silicon Valley and Greater Washington.” [Washington Business Journal]

ACPD: Man arrested after seriously injuring police officer along Columbia Pike

A Maryland man has been charged with seriously injuring an Arlington police officer.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of the Pike and S. Walter Reed Drive.

Police chase ends on I-66 in Arlington after Fairfax store theft

Three suspects are facing multiple charges after a series of thefts led to a car chase on I-66.

The chase — involving a black BMW sport utility vehicle — happened during Thursday’s evening rush hour and ended in the eastbound lanes of I-66 near the exit to N. Ohio Street, in Arlington. It followed at least two separate thefts in Fairfax County, including at a Bath and Body Works store in Fair Oaks and a Kohl’s in Burke.

Arlington’s Memorial Day weekend: Spraygrounds open, motorcycle rally rumbles, facilities close

Today marks the start of the Memorial Day weekend and the return of Arlington’s spraygrounds.

The kid-oriented water features at county parks are open for the season as of today — Friday, May 24. All spraygrounds will operate from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. through Monday, the county says, before returning to normal hours on Tuesday.
