Group Assault in Pentagon City — “The juvenile female victim was inside a business when the juvenile female suspect, who is known to her, allegedly approached and made threatening statements towards her before assaulting her. Additional juveniles in the area then also began assaulting the victim. The assault briefly broke up before the group continued the assault and subsequently dispersed upon police arrival. The suspect attempted to flee the scene and following a foot pursuit, she was taken into custody inside the Pentagon City Metro Station.” [ACPD]

Power Outage Along the Pike — “More than a thousand Dominion Energy customers lost power [on Thursday] in Arlington after a squirrel got into the equipment… Dominion Energy confirmed in an email to DC News Now that the squirrel got on a piece of equipment at the Bailey Crossroads substation. Shirlington Crow Watching — “We met the birders late Saturday afternoon on the rooftop level of a parking garage by Shirlington Library in Arlington. As the sun set, through binoculars we watched the distant horizon: Crows trickled, then poured into the area. Several thousand perched on trees along a ridge that formed a semicircle around the parking garage… This is a winter thing, through February, experts say.” [Washington Post]

Tysons Casino Bill Returns — “Senate Majority Leader Scott Surovell (D-34) is once again rolling the dice on legislation to allow a casino in Fairfax County. A bill that would add the county to Virginia’s list of localities eligible to host a casino was officially introduced yesterday (Tuesday) in the state Senate, which referred it to a Committee on General Laws and Technology. All-Day Cafe in Rosslyn — “Michelin-starred chef Fabio Trabocchi’s restaurant group plans to open an all-day cafe in the Rosslyn office building where he opened a Sfoglina outpost just before the Covid-19 pandemic. Fabio Trabocchi Restaurants has inked a deal to take over the roughly 2,200-square-foot former AHRA Cafe space, across the lobby from the Sfoglina upscale Italian restaurant that opened at 1100 Wilson Blvd. in October 2019.” [WBJ]

Miller Protester Profiled — “Wien was on a quiet cul-de-sac that day when she noticed a black SUV idling in front of a large white house. She recalls asking the driver to kill the engine as she rattled off information about rising asthma rates. Then she looked up and saw someone on the porch she recognized: Miller’s wife, Katie Miller. Garage Fire in Cherrydale — “Units are on scene of a house fire on the 1800 block of N Monroe St. Smoke was visible from the garage upon arrival… Units are working on ventilation. Robbery Attempt Near Va. Square — “The male and female victims were walking in the area when they were approached by the male suspect who displayed what appeared to be a firearm and attempted to steal the male victim’s belongings. The suspect assaulted the male victim, resulting in both of them falling to the ground. A second suspect approached the group, and the two suspects subsequently fled the scene on foot. No injuries were reported, and the suspects did not steal any of the victims’ belongings.” [ACPD]
