An Asian and French inspired bakery franchise from South Korea has opened for business in Pentagon City.

Tous les Jours opened last week at 1100 S. Hayes Street, where Maizal closed last summer. The cafe-bakery offers drinks and freshly baked breads, cakes and pastries with international influences.

The Eden Center’s new food hall and nightlife venue is now open.

After a few months of delays, Pop-Up District has opened, bringing a futuristic theme and array of dining kiosks to 6763 Wilson Blvd. The food hall carries Vietnamese, Thai and Korean cuisine as well as coffee and dessert — and after dark, it turns into a late-night lounge.

Races in the Amazon Armed Forces Cycling Classic are happening in Arlington and D.C. this weekend, leading to some road closures around Clarendon and Crystal City.

The international cycling event kicks off its 27th year at 7 a.m. this Saturday with an amateur Challenge Ride, followed by professional/amateur races in the Capital Cup and Sunday’s Clarendon Cup.

After 20 years at the Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse, the beloved Columbia Pike venue’s owners are passing the torch to the business’s longtime manager.

Pete Fejeran, who has managed the comedy club and theater at 2903 Columbia Pike for the past 12 years, has taken ownership alongside his wife Kathryn McAbee. Former owners Tim Clark and Greg Godbout are stepping down to pursue “other opportunities,” Fejeran said.

With summer on the horizon, “spraygrounds” across Arlington are set to reopen tomorrow (Saturday).

Arlington is home to seven parks with splashing and water features. These will reopen from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. this Memorial Day weekend, with the exception of Penrose Square, which is closed for repairs.

A beloved firefighter who died earlier this month was honored yesterday (Tuesday) with an emotional radio farewell from the Arlington County Fire Department.

The announcement that came across Arlington airwaves around 3:30 p.m. started like dispatches for significant incidents, with three long beeps. But unlike others, the message that followed was a moving tribute to the life of firefighter Lloyd Edwards.

The Dark, Unbound plans to sell books by “underrepresented voices in the fantasy, science-fiction, speculative fiction and horror genres,” in a cozy, moody atmosphere. It is in the works at 112 W. Broad Street, where Dominion Camera closed in September.

Behind Arlington’s public safety employees and first responders are a pair of social workers supporting them through therapy and mental health services.

Donna Young and Leslie Geer joined the county as public safety wellness coordinators in 2023. Equipped with backgrounds in clinical social work, the duo spearheads employee wellness trainings, ensures agencies have adequate wellness policies and offers short-term therapy and mental health services.
