Two decades ago, Marymount University paved paradise and put up a parking lot on its main campus in residential North Arlington.
This week, the school embarked on a construction project to turn the lot in front of the historic Main House at 2807 N. Glebe Road into a campus green space.
(Updated at 10:40 a.m.) In July, we highlighted a number of recently sold properties in Arlington, ranging from “budget buys” to homes that sold for well over asking price.
As a quick recap, more than 330 homes were recently sold in Arlington, according to Homesnap. On the flip side, 176 new listings hit the market in the past four weeks. In total, more than 654 homes are the market — 423 condos, 191 detached homes and 30 townhomes.

Four years ago today, one of the strangest stories in Arlington history played out.
It was a slow Thursday in August when an ARLnow editor was on the phone while walking around Clarendon, where our offices were located at the time. Along Wilson Blvd, next to the Metro station, an odd sight caught his attention: a van with rhythmic blinking lights at the top of the windshield.
The Salt Line in Ballston is now “looking at a September opening,” restaurant representatives tell ARLnow.
This another push back from the restaurant’s initial opening in spring 2020. Pandemic-related delays caused that to be moved to 2021. Then, construction delays shifted it again to summer and, now, opening appears to be set for late summer or early fall.

Before diving in, let’s take a look at what the market has been up to. In the past four weeks, there have been 188 new listings, giving us a total of 710 homes for sale, according to Homesnap. That includes 466 condos, 202 single-family homes and 42 townhomes.
At 8 a.m. on Sunday, a man will embark on a 42-day walk from the Pentagon to Shanksville, Pennsylvania to the World Trade Center in New York City to honor the first responders who risked their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.
The journey is personal for Frank Siller, who is traversing six states and more than 500 miles in memory of his brother, New York firefighter Stephen Siller, who died responding to the terrorist attack. The surviving Siller plans to arrive in Manhattan on Sept. 11.
