The concert series continues with Afrobeat band Dogo Tu Togo (Fri., June 12); Latin-jazz from Rumba Club (Sat., June 13); and the majestic Arlington Philharmonic (Sun., June 14, *6:30pm start time); The Grandsons 40th Anniversary (Sat., June 20); and the educational ensemble Mama Elena (Sun., June 21, 11:00 a.m.), continuing our tradition of Sunday morning performances for the whole family; and a Simon & Garfunkel Tribute performance (Fri., June 26).                            

Presented by Arlington Arts in cooperation with the Arlington County Department of Parks and Recreation and with the collaboration of the Lubber Run Amphitheater Foundation, the Lubber Run Amphitheater Concerts take place on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, June 6 through August 2. News

A new recycling facility and more food scraps collection could be coming to Arlington as the county revamps its waste-reduction strategy.

A proposed Solid Waste Management Plan seeking to divert 90% of Arlington waste away from landfills and incineration by 2038 is slated to go before the Arlington County Board on Saturday. Replacing the current plan adopted in 2004, the new document would guide initiatives in Arlington for the next two decades.


Around Town

Ballston Quarter will soon be home to a new all-you-can-eat hot pot and Korean barbecue restaurant.

Top Pot has begun appearing on signs around the mall, as well as on the shopping center’s website. The restaurant’s website lists the Ballston location as “coming soon” and signs indicate that it will be somewhere at street level — likely either inside the main mall or along Wilson Blvd.

A robbery suspect led police on a bike and then a foot chase Tuesday afternoon.

The incident started with a robbery of the Target store on N. Glebe Road in Ballston around 3:15 p.m. The suspect allegedly pushed an employee to the ground and then fled on a bicycle, with the stolen goods in tow.


Events

A race and a music festival will close roads in two Arlington neighborhoods this weekend.

Parts of two roadways in Pentagon City will be closed Saturday, June 15 for the ZERO Prostate Cancer 5k Run/Walk, which begins at 7:45 a.m.

Arlington is poised to accept $18 million in funding for a pedestrian bridge connecting Crystal City to Reagan National Airport.

A funding allocation from the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority is slated for consideration at an Arlington County Board meeting this Saturday. Construction on the project, dubbed the CC2DCA multimodal connection, is expected to begin in Fiscal Year 2028.

AAA Bond Rating Reaffirmed — “For the 24th year in a row, all three credit ratings agencies have reaffirmed Arlington County’s debt ratings of Aaa/AAA/AAA -— the highest possible rating. Va. Square Vehicular Food Fight — “At approximately 7:51 p.m. on June 9, police were dispatched to the report of disorderly conduct.
