More corporate hotel rooms and up to 1.8 million square feet of development are on track to come to Pentagon City following votes last weekend.

An approved amendment to the Pentagon City Phased Development Site Plan would allow for the redevelopment of two aging office buildings just east of the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City. The change does not come with specific plans for new development, but tentative proposals call for up to 1,675 new dwelling units and 70,000 square feet of retail space.

A 40-year-old Maryland man who was arrested at an Arlington hotel has pleaded guilty to a federal weapon charge.

The Waldorf resident was arrested Feb. 27 “at a hotel in Arlington County on an outstanding warrant for a parole violation following a drug distribution conviction in the District of Columbia,” according to a U.S. Dept. of Justice press release.

Local elected officials are throwing their weight behind a unionization effort at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City.

Writing on behalf of the Board earlier this month, Arlington County Chair Libby Garvey noted that over 70% of housekeeping workers at the hotel next to Reagan National Airport signed union authorization cards in July, filing for a union election.

Public access at a forthcoming Rosslyn hotel is moving up in the world.

Instead of taking place on the eighth floor of the new Hilton hotel at 1900 N. Fort Myer Drive, county-facilitated events will now happen on the building’s 36th floor, following a unanimous Arlington County Board vote on Saturday.

A large Arlington County police and fire department response was once again on scene of the Key Bridge Marriott this morning.

In connection to the response, the county said it would prove to the media “an update on the ongoing operation to secure the property located at 1401 Langston Blvd.” A press conference was scheduled for 10:30 a.m. in nearby Gateway Park.

Arlington County is taking steps to unilaterally secure and demolish the vacant Key Bridge Marriott in Rosslyn.

The county announced Friday morning that it has declared the property at 1401 Langston Blvd a “public nuisance… due to its unsafe and unsanitary conditions.”

An 11-story, 290-unit apartment building with about 16,000 square feet of retail and a 10-story, 229-room hotel with a rooftop terrace and bar are proposed for the site, dubbed “Bingham Center.”
