Arlington Travel Baseball (ATB) is a 501(c)3 non-profit youth baseball organization that provides an opportunity for players ages 9-14U to acquire superior skills through higher levels of competition.

ATB is seeking head and assistant coaches who have a passion for the game and want to join a “winning” team. Ideally, we are in search of former college baseball players who want to teach the game they grew up playing.

Coaches will be compensated a competitive wage and required to pass a background check. Coaching experience is a plus but not required and training is available as needed. Coaches will report to the Director of Player Development, who will set team goals and assist with practice plans and specific skills development.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Manage the day to day field activities of the team. Teaching relevant skills, tactics and techniques
  • Arrive on time and have a practice plan for each practice
  • Lead the team at all regular season, playoff and tournament games
  • Coach in a positive manner (Coaches will have coach of conduct form)
  • Communicate with Team General Manager with administrative needs of team
  • Prepare the players for the physical and mental challenges of competitive baseball
  • Identify player strengths and weaknesses and provide progress reports at end of summer season
  • Attend annual tryouts in July

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Follow the “Alair Process” and have a full and complete understanding of the Alair Project Management software —  comprehensive training provided
  • Attend weekly team meetings
  • Maintain a high level of integrity and honesty with the client and team members
  • Maintain constant communication with each client to get timely decisions and approvals for all selections and scope changes
  • Attend and facilitate job progress/status meetings
  • Work collaboratively with all team members including staff, sub trades and market partners, as well as work independently and be self-motivated
  • Maintain, edit and create detailed scope of work sheets for each project
  • Be responsible for collecting and managing sub trade and vendor quotes
  • Manage subcontractor agreements
  • Seek new sub-trades and vendors as needed — maintain a network
  • Monitor project budgets and review with client consistently
  • Create, monitor and maintain project schedules and budgets
  • Confirm and order specialty items, fixtures and material (long lead items)
  • Create invoice requests and facilitate payments
  • Be familiar with current codes and stay up to date on best building practices
  • Attend a post completion job evaluation for each project
  • Responsible for job site safety, security and cleanliness
  • Oversee the safety policy; keep the company and sub trades working within guidelines

Required Skills:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Comfortable with technology
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask
  • Project management and/or building experience is a plus

Local News Now, the publisher of four local news publications in Northern Virginia including ARLnow.com, is seeking our first Digital Editor to help take our local journalism and audience engagement to the next level.

We’re looking for a Digital Editor who will help our editorial team break stories and reach readers while maintaining a high bar for quality. A typical week on the job will include copy editing, story planning, and audience engagement work.

The successful candidate will be joining a growing team of journalists at our office, three blocks from the Ballston Metro station.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Copy editing about 15-20 articles per day prior to online publication
  • Providing coaching and assistance to reporters covering enterprise stories
  • Monitoring multiple news sources, including email inboxes, Facebook messages, Twitter feeds and scanner radios, in order to help our team break stories and coordinate breaking news coverage
  • Helping to cover for reporter vacations and sick days

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • 5-10 years of relevant local news experience
  • Strong copy editing skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, occasionally high-stress environment
  • A passion for training and coaching early-career journalists, helping them to achieve their full potential
  • Ability to multitask and monitor multiple news sources, including Twitter, email and scanner radios
  • Experience running branded social media accounts and an innate ability to understand and connect with an audience via social channels
