O’Sullivan’s Irish Pub in Clarendon is planning to open a new room in a vacant, adjacent storefront.

The business applied for a permit last week for a commercial addition at 3211 Washington Blvd, formerly home to The Spirits of ’76, an Americana-themed bar that closed in fall 2020.

A new halal Indian restaurant opened recently on Langston Blvd, adding some South Asian flavors to the corridor’s diverse lineup of local restaurants.

At 5645 Langston Blvd, Curry & Clay Oven offers mainstays like biryani, palak paneer and curry, as well as fusion dishes such as paneer cheesesteaks, butter chicken pizzas and masala fries, manager Khalid Oylid told ARLnow.

Sandwich shop Port of Subs is expected to land in Arlington next year as the company rolls out plans for a D.C.-area expansion.

The nautical-themed, Nevada-based submarine sandwich chain expects to establish 70 locations in the region over the next decade, with the first scheduled to open in Arlington by May 2025, Port of Subs announced this month.

The holiday shopping rush will continue after Black Friday with a local Small Business Saturday push.

Twenty-two stores and restaurants in Arlington and Falls Church are slated to participate in the program, which will go through Sunday this year.

Since age 15, the Arlington native has worked hard to hone his culinary skills and launch his own bakeshop, Sweets by Esvin, out of the home he owns in Oxon Hill, Md. One day, he dreams of co-owning a bakery with his father, local chef Esvin Gramajo Hernandez.

The former space of a D.C.-based pizzeria remains vacant in Rosslyn after the restaurant closed over the summer.

A few months after &pizza’s closure at 1800 N. Lynn Street, the restaurant’s kitchenware and checkered tiles can still be seen inside. Recent permits do not indicate a new tenant at the property, which houses several other restaurants, including Nando’s Peri-Peri Chicken, sweetgreen, Happy Eatery food hall and McDonald’s.

A new cafe highlighting Turkish, Greek and Lebanese cuisines is opening this week in Falls Church.

Cafe Zevian, a Mediterranean concept by Adem Kaplan, will be located at the bottom of The Kensington senior living facility at 700 W. Broad Street. Opening at 7 a.m. each day, the restaurant will offer breakfast, lunch and dinner options including an array of meat and vegetable dishes.

Restaurants across Arlington and Falls Church received acclaim in Northern Virginia Magazine this month.

The magazine’s list of the “50 Best Restaurants in Northern Virginia” in 2024 featured 14 establishments from the county and The Little City. Featured cuisines ranged from sushi and Italian, to Vietnamese and tapas.

A new Latin and Tex-Mex restaurant is currently hosting its soft opening in Falls Church.

Casa Mariachi Bar and Grille expects to hold a grand opening sometime next week at 133 E. Annandale Road, manager Tony Flores told ARLnow. The restaurant serves an expansive menu featuring tacos, quesadillas, burritos, fajitas and platters.

Following the Crystal City Underground’s closure, a longtime women’s boutique will relocate to a larger nearby space this weekend.

Crystal Boutique’s last day at 2100 Crystal Drive is Saturday. The shop first opened in 1970, focusing on evening wear and other garments for “mature and older women,” owner Joel Cohen told ARLnow.

After a little over a year in business, a Ballston juice bar intends to relocate to a smaller space in the neighborhood.

Greenheart Juice Shop, a Northern Virginia-based juicery and eatery founded in 2013, closed last Friday at 4121 Wilson Blvd. The shop serving smoothies, cold-pressed juices, cashew milks and light breakfast items opened for business last September in the former location of Philz Coffee.
