This week’s Arlington Pet of the Week is Tim Riggins, a long-haired and talkative cat.
Here is what his owner, Haley, had to say about him:
This week’s Arlington Pet of the Week is Duke, a black labrador retriever with bags of energy. Here is what his owner, TeChera, had to say about him:
Duke is a 9-week-old puppy who was originally fostered before being adopted from the Wolftrap Animal Rescue in Northern Virginia. Bursting with loads of energy, he is part labrador retriever, part Superman, as he loves to leap and fly across the living room, always accompanied by his trusty knitted blanket. Although my little caped crusader lacks the baby blues of a Christopher Reeve or Henry Cavill, Duke’s large coal colored eyes are my own form of kryptonite — especially when begging for doggie treats!
This week’s Arlington Pet of the Week is Conner, a playful black cat who loves hunting for fake mice. Here is what his owner, Len, had to say about him:
Conner is a 5-year-old domestic cat weighing about 10 pounds. I adopted him and his sister Cali when they were 10 weeks. Conner is an all-black male with a small patch of white on his chest (he looks like a black bear cub!). As a young kitten, he grew up in a home with 7 cats. He became aggressive at an early age, pouncing on the tails of much larger cats because it was fun and really irritated them. He is a long-haired cat so I groom him often to keep down the development of hairballs.
This week’s Arlington Pet of the Week is Stella, a little dog full of love. Here is what he owner, Ruth, had to say about her:
Stella was adopted from Homeward Trails in Arlington, VA. She was supposed to stay for the weekend, while her foster mom was away. But this 7 pound ball of black fluff found a permanent place at the table within 5 minutes. No one knows the complete story of the then 10-year-old toy poodle, but it was clear she wanted to be loved. 24/7 loved. On your lap all the time loved. In your arms held like a baby loved. Sleeping under your neck at night loved. It was easy to give it to her and I never looked back. My kids joke that she took the pressure off of them to give me grandchildren yet. (If they are reading this — NOT TRUE!) But, she is my current baby and for that I am grateful.
This week’s Arlington Pet of the Week is Harper, a Redskins and Nationals fan who loves Shirlington. Here is what her owner, Jamie, had to say about her:
Harper is a 2.5 year old toy poodle. My husband and I got her last Christmas and she turned out to be the only gift that mattered. Every day since she has brightened our lives and those around us with her playful and sweet nature. She has a lot of energy and is always eager to play fetch, go for a swim, take a romp in the snow or play with other dogs. However, when she’s ready to settle down, she enjoys belly rubs and snuggles.
This week’s Arlington Pet of the Week is Shiro, a cat who loves playing fetch. This is what her owner, Carletta, had to say about her:
Shiro was adopted from the amazing Homeward Trails Rescue organization just over two years ago. Originally we thought we were maybe just going to foster her but after two days we knew that there was no way possible we were giving her away!
This week’s Arlington Pet of the Week is Sesame, a social pup who loves people and dogs alike. Here is what his owner, Bethany had to say about him:
Sesame is a half Dachshund, half Pomeranian who lives in Arlington, VA.
This week’s Arlington Pet of the Week is Tanner, a golden retriever/cavalier King Charles mix with a huge heart. Here is what his owner, Tania, had to say about him:
I am writing to brag about my adorable little pup, Tanner! Anyone who knows me well knows that I could talk about this boy for hours. Tanner is the first dog I have ever had, and he has been the biggest joy. I had always begged my parents for one growing up, and when I lost my father very unexpectedly on Christmas Eve 2014, I couldn’t think of a better way to help me overcome the indescribable pain. He’s been a shoulder to cry on, partner in crime and best buddy. He has extremely fluffy ears, he is ALWAYS smiling and always smells like oranges. I think it’s funny how dogs can’t understand you, can’t speak, sniff you, make weird faces, lick/bite you but become the very best friends you will ever have (think about that with humans). Can’t imagine my life without this little guy.
This week’s Arlington Pet of the Week is Honey, a Rhodesian Ridgeback who loves March Madness.
Here is what Honey told us, through owner, Satya:
This week’s Arlington Pet of the Week is Mandrake, an active dog who also loves to snuggle. Here is what Caren, Mandrake’s owner, has to say about him:
Mandrake is a 3-year-old goofy Coon mix who loves to run, jump, chase his tail, go on hikes, bark at nothing and then snuggle with his humans on their laps. He is an alum of Woof’s Training, but he doesn’t always put his degree to use…
This week’s Arlington Pet of the Week is Bruno, a young-at-heart dog whose nickname is “Wonderpup.” Here is what his owner, Shira, had to say about him:
Is this a dog, Ewok or Gremlin? The answer is (kind of) all three. Bruno is an 11-year-old Pekingese from California.
