Arlington, the District and other parts of the D.C. region are now under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch.

The watch is in effect until 10 p.m. Storms packing damaging wind gusts, hail, and lots of lighting are possible Tuesday evening.

Arlington — as well as D.C. and surrounding areas —  is under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch this (Sunday) afternoon.

The National Weather Service just issued the watch, which is in effect until 11 p.m.

Arlington County and most of the D.C. area is now under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch.

Arlington is at a lower risk of severe storms than points to the south and east, according to the National Weather Service, but is nonetheless included in the watch, along with D.C. and neighboring Virginia counties.

Update at 3:40 p.m. — The severe storm for which forecasters issued a warning dropped sizable hail over a large swath of Arlington, from Pentagon City to Ballston to northern residential neighborhoods. While the warning is expiring, the earlier Severe Thunderstorm Watch (below) remains in effect.
