On Tuesday, we told you that Rosslyn is going to be getting a Fro.Zen.Yo store. Now, we can tell you that Ballston will be getting one as well.

A spokesperson for the frozen yogurt chain confirms that the long rumored Ballston location is going to become a reality. It will move into the old Smoothie King space at 850 N. Randolph Street, across from the Ballston mall.

This location will be owned by former Washington Bullets champion Kevin Grevey. One year ago this month, Grevey became the the very first Fro.Zen.Yo franchisee.

The Ballston location is expected to open sometime in June.

  • hate all y’all want, i’m pumped about this!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Danielle

I am personally happy about this and think it’s a good addition to Ballston. I like this place, especially the self-serve toppings bar.

    • Brian

A great addition? Like Smoothie King wasn’t basically the same thing? It’ll be closed in a year.

  • novasteve

How long until Rays goes into the Froyo business?

    • Landrum

    • ThirstyVA

      Rays the Probiotics.

For someone who always calls out others giving no credit, you should give credit here. I alerted you guys about this last week on Twitter with a pic of the building permit.

    • We always give credit where it’s due, but in this case I unfortunately don’t recall the Tweet you’re referring to. We previously reported that FroZenYo was coming to the R-B corridor and after they sent us a press release about their Rosslyn location this week we followed up and asked about other possible locations in Arlington. That’s how we found out about the Ballston location.

      • BrianKal

No worries, thanks for the explaination … no hard feelings

      • and

You also block a lot of comments for now apparent reason.

        • and

I meant “no apparently reason.” Autocorrect.

          • FrenchyB

Are you sure you’re not confusing this site with ARLno?

This guy also runs a restaurant over in Merrifield called Greveys. A lot of the bitter old people that complain about Arlington not having a dive bar or a place where ugly people can go would probably enjoy that place – its super comfortable and they have a solid brunch.

I wish this guy well and am definitely going to start organizing fro-yo crawls on the ballston-rosslyn corridor

    • ramen

It’s a UK bar. What more needs to be said?

      • wockney canker

        no it isn’t you ruffian!

Great American Food, Drinks and Sports!
Grevey’s is owned by former NBA shooting guard Kevin Grevey, who helped the Washington Bullets win their “miracle” championship in 1978.

        • ramen

          Another UK.

    • FrenchyB

Grevey’s used to have a pretty nice wing & beef on weck combo, but it looks like it’s not on the menu anymore.

  • Arlingtune

Thank you for using the accurate basketball franchise name for the time. Although it would be more accurate to call him an NBA champion.

  • Zach

It makes so much sense that a retail location would be switching from smoothies to frozen yogurt. From one fad to another.

    • novasteve

Froyo is like blue jeans, never goes out of style, unless it’s like acid wash, toughskins, etc….

      • drax

        Hey, I still wear Toughskins!

        • novasteve

I hope you are in construction, or work labor. You’ll need those double knees!

          • PaulB

Oh, there is joke in there just waiting to come out.

          • ArLater

            No pun intended?

  • Let’s hope this one won’t be based on Christian values. Keep religion out of my frozen desserts!

  • Kramer

But I want a Smoothie King hot dog!!!

  • Tabs

This “frozen yogurt” contains high-fructose corn syrup and milk solids. The toppings ARE great, I’ll give them that. I can eat yogurt no problem, so tried it, and my allergy to milk proteins kicked right in. Ugh.

Anyway, I’d rather get fat eating Pupatella and Wiinkys.

    • JamesE

I am sort of glad pupatella is just far enough to have to drive because if not I would go everyday and be 400lb.

  • Yogurt from Spaceballs

    Moichandising! Fro.Zen.Yo the t-shirt.

    • Mog (half man, half dog – I’m my own best friend)

Fro.Zen.Yo II – the soich for more money

  • 1RLI

I didn’t know there was a Smoothie King at Ballston. Damn, that would have been a lot easier to get to than the one at Pentagon Row.
