New restaurant and bar opens in former ‘Rebellion on the Pike’ space

A new restaurant and bar has opened at the former site of Rebellion on the Pike.

Cornerstone opened its doors last month at 2900 Columbia Pike, serving up hearty plates like chicken pot pie, beef chili and seafood pasta along with beers, wines and signature cocktails at its full bar.

Co-owner Pete Fejeran aims for a relaxed atmosphere that meshes with the character of the Pike and nearby Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse, where Fejeran is general manager.

Beyond its main dining area downstairs, Cornerstone maintains a pet-friendly patio and has begun hosting events on its upper level. Fejeran hopes to grow community partnerships over time, possibly hosting pet adoptions, art shows and happenings in tandem with the Drafthouse across the street.

“A lot more crossover events are going to be happening soon,” he said.

The restaurant is still setting up online ordering and attempting to install a sign out front — the latter being a county process that has taken longer than getting a liquor license, Fejeran said.

He said the neighborhood has been “accepting us pretty well” and he feels confident in the business’s concept and location.

“It’s kind of a good recipe for success,” Fejeran said. “If we run it right and play our cards right, we should be up here for years.”

Cornerstone is open from 4 p.m.-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 2 p.m.-1:30 a.m. on Friday, from 11 a.m.-1:30 a.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. on Sunday.
