MidnighTreats, a vegan bakery serving up one-third pound “monster” size cookies, will celebrate a grand opening in Ballston this weekend.
The plant-based business, found near the entrance of the Ballston Quarter’s food hall at 4238 Wilson Blvd, will soft open from 11 a.m.-midnight on Thursday and Friday before a Saturday grand opening.
From 1 p.m.-midnight Saturday, the bakery will give a free chocolate chip monster size cookie to each customer while supplies last. Early birds will be rewarded: the first five people in line Saturday will get a free monster size cookies for a year.
The first customer will get a free weekly cookie, while the other four will get free monthly cookies.
The bakery’s main flavors are chocolate chip, brownie, birthday bash and cinna-roll, but the grand opening will also feature some seasonal flavors.
If you’re in the mood for fall, a vanilla pumpkin spice cookie is part of the lineup. Other seasonal flavors include citrusy blueberry lemon, soft oatmeal marshmallow, and a “super snickerdoodle” topped with Lotus Biscoff cookie butter and Biscoff crumbs.
For more petite appetites, MidnighTreats offers smaller cookies called munchies, which come in chocolate chip, red velvet, oatmeal chocolate chip and snickerdoodle varieties.
Coming soon to the menu are prepackaged oat milk-based gelatos, owner Jemal Mahdi told ARLnow. The store will offer oat milk beverages and vegan ice cream cookie sandwiches in the meantime.
Following the brand’s commitment to sustainable values and philanthropy, the bakery plans to donate 10% of all grand opening proceeds to the Animal Welfare League of Arlington, Mahdi said.
The Ballston location will open on the same day as MidnighTreats’ Vienna location is set to shutter, and some of those employees will transfer over. The bakery’s Reston and Alexandria locations are still open for business.
